Pollard LED Signs

Here's a blast from the past.

Pollard Manufacturing (Units 8-9 165 Matheson Blvd Mississauga ON L4Z 3K2) used to make those huge LED sign boards. I acquired some at a garage sale, and received documentation with it.

Pollard, as far as I can tell, is no longer in business, and this is really old stuff, so I'm posting the manuals here in hopes it will help fellow hobbyists. This is all the information I have:

Here are some pictures of the pieces I acquired (click on the XL for camera-resolution pictures):

The one pictured above is about 3' wide, I have one.

I have three of these; they're about 4' long, and the LEDs go edge-to-edge. They have weird 22-pin UCN5801 "BiMOS II Latched Driver" chips and 2N6668 PNP Darlington power transistors (rated at 10 A / 80 V).

Enclosed Panel (Smaller)

This panel features two discrete rows of display, with 7 rows of LEDs each. The top row has discrete 5-column characters (there are spaces between sets of LEDs), whereas the bottom row is continuous.

Control Board (6809 based)

The difference between Control Board 1 and Control Board 2 is the number of components populated. I'm assuming board 1 is used with the large panels (I have three of these control boards); board 2 is from the smaller enclosed panel.

Power Supply

This is the power supply that's on the same chasses as the three Control Board 1 boards.

The power supply on the smaller enclosed panel is different.
